Nowadays there are many internet affiliate marketing programs, many linked to online merchant banking facilities so that would be affiliates can find people with products that they want to sell, and sellers can get themselves affiliates! But then many larger online businesses also advertize for affiliates on their websites, often it's just a text link at the bottom of a page, but you can find affiliate programs rlevant to most niche markets these days. Here are some things to consider when you join an affiliate program: Is it free to join? Most internet affiliate marketing programs are absolutely free to join, but check first. What commission is paid? It could be from 10% - 80% depending on the product. Commissions for Clickbank products are worth a look, as they often tend to be quite high. On the hand you're unlikely to make a fortune from Amazon, who pay up to 10% last time I checked. I do use Amazon, for books I really like (there's one on this web site by Nelson Bates), even though it earns me almost nothing, and for a few higher value items I like (such as software). Otherwise I try to find higher paying schemes and search for appropriate products until I find some I think worth a go. Some people just look at the best selling products with good commissions, which is okay I guess, but on the whole I prefer to know I like the product first. I often become an affiliate because I like a product, but I guess it's a personal choice. If you have a good web host that you like have a look at their commissions, some are pretty good (and you don't like look for a better one, at least for your next site, and then become an affiliate). Sometimes you get commission also on products down the line - if a customer referred by you makes repeat purchases, and this is always worth a look. Some schemes also pay for the hits and impressions, besides the commissions on sales. Do they issue the commission checks or can you get paid by bankers draft or Paypal? Program are different in this respect, but most require that a minimum amount is earned before they will pay you. How are referrals from an affiliate’s site tracked? Internet affiliate marketing programs track people you refer from your site so that you can get credit for a sale. Check if you get credit for visitors who do not buy initially but return later to make to buy. What is the hit to sale ratio? How many hits does it take, on average, to generate a sale based on all affiliate statistics? From this you can work out how much traffic you must generate to convert hits into sales. What kinds of stats are available? Can you tell how many impressions, hits and sales you generate, whenever you wish? Who is the online retailer and do they provide affiliates with marketing stuff, like sample adverts, articles and graphics? Find out if this program is really for you and your web site. Affiliate products are great for niche marketers. You can use Squidoo pages to test out products and even for main sales, giving a free way in to internet based marketing. Promoting your internet affiliate marketing programs is much the same as promoting any other products online, but for a ready made plan consider this great ebook package. |
