Is it you that has been Googling "premium links directory one way"? Do you think that one way links from a premium links directory is a good idea? Heck, so did I! What an easy way of getting backlinks to your site! What a great idea it sounded, so I set up my own links directory, following an acquaintance and impressed by how lovely it all looked on the screen! An entry in the horse directory is free, and I'll put up an advertsing page for you very cheaply, if it's relevant horses! But I have taken down that payment for featured links bit! So it's now just another advertising directory, although it is attached to the number 1 and 2 spots on the Google search engine for its keywords - and I want to keep it that way! I'm so glad I only called it a directory, and not a links directory. I see they are even unattractively called "link farms" and classed as part of a "bad neighbourhood", along with porn sites and those involved with hacking, spamming and gambling! Eeeek! If you want to see some stuff not to do when getting backlinks to your site see http://www.transdisplay.com/seo-tutorial/276-12-backlink-schemes-to-increase-site-pagerank This is quoted directly from that site: "If you have paid for this backlink scheme, you’re just wasting your money or your resources. These backlinks have no effect in your PageRank as these are considered by Google as just an ads. As per the Quality guidelines - basic principles of Google’s Webmaster’s Guidelines, webmasters are warned not to participate in any link schemes designed to increase site’s ranking or PageRank." Despite all the above there is apparently an exception: getting a (paid) link from a Yahoo Directory Listing. Although the major search engines are generally against bought links I'm told they like these ones! Someone at Yahoo actually checks out your websites and approves them (or not I suppose), so I guess it's considered to be trusted "quality control". |
